Blurb: Derek is only working for a month to pay off his debt to Jessie, but not everyone likes his openly homosexual lifestyle. He knows what it feels like to be beaten to within an inch of his life so he doesn't give a rat's ass what people think.

The attraction between him and the hunky Indian Ishwar is instantly satisfying. He finds himself begging for more every second he is near him, but when he falls into the arms of a stranger, things only begin to heat up, until an unforeseen peril puts him in danger.

Derek must prove he has the heart of a cowboy, and it will take every ounce of love and strength in his heart to make it through this ordeal alive.

Review: I enjoyed Heart of a Cowboy but there are bumps along the way. This is a paranormal shifter story that at times had a western historical feel, and at other times there was edge of the seat suspense. The characters and dialog were engaging but I thought a few of the action/fight scenes were over the top. The story takes twists and turns, but some elements happened unexpectedly and left me thinking “huh?”

I loved the interaction between Derek and Ishwar but the reader is well into the story before it’s clear who the heroes are in the book. And even by the end, I didn’t feel the love triad was a natural solution. Yes, they were happy but I wasn’t convinced.

The wolf shifters were an intriguing aspect of the story. And have a crucial part in the conclusion. However, I didn’t think this part of the story was explained enough. I had unanswered questions. Lucas was intriguing and I devoured his part in the story, wanted more of their world.

So while I had a few issues with the story, it is fast paced, entertaining, and has several erotic and sensual love scenes. Heart of a Cowboy is Derek’s story and his journey is emotional and poignant.
